Audio can capture the essence of your organisation, helping to retain existing customers and capture new ones. Below are just a few suggestions of areas where your organisation may benefit:

1. Internal communications

Keep employees up to date with health & safety policy or customer service procedure through audio podcasts placed on the intranet and inject some humour and personality into what can often be very dry subjects. Better still, record your employees and let others listen to their new ideas and achievements.

Your sales staff are constantly on the road so why not create product and service manual CD’s that they can listen to whilst driving? This would keep them better prepared for meetings and reduce the amount of work required once back in the office.

2. Marketing & Branding

You are passionate about what you do and about the products and services that you sell, but does this passion come across on your website? Help your customers hear that passion through:

Product background and history - Tell your customers about the history of your products, interesting facts or future developments.

Customer testimonials - let your customers hear just how good your products / services are and just how efficient your after sales service is from existing customers.

Introducing the team - You know how friendly and helpful you and your team are, but do your customers? Does your company website present a caring and approachable image or that of corporate men and women in brown suits? Inject some personality to your website.

Making your customers experts - provide regular podcasts revealing industry news, interviews with experts or details of how your products and services can be used to enhance the experience and you will be rewarded with a better informed and more loyal customer base.

3. Telephone - IVR / on-hold messages

Many companies spend a large part of their marketing budget encouraging potential customers to call them. Using professional, well planned and presented telephone messages will help to ensure that those callers become paying customers. For those that are placed on hold, use that time efficiently by playing short, informative and targeted messages, informing customers of new products and services, promotions and other relevant marketing information. Not only can this generate additional sales but research has found that presenting callers with short messages, can reduce the perception of time spent on-hold reducing the chances of them hanging up. 34% of customers who hang up will not come back.

4. Training & education

Providing educational and training material in audio format has key advantages over other formats.

Accessibility – people’s lives are busy, and audio can give them the option of learning whilst undertaking other tasks. The explosion of mobile phones and portable media players makes this possible for most students.

Personality– learning materials can be bland and lacking emotion. Audio resources can inject some of the excitement, and enthusiasm for a subject, as any good teacher would do. This can be especially important for distance learning.

These files can be used to compliment rather than replace existing learning materials, giving the student the flexibility to adapt the learning to their own circumstances.
